Turlock is home to California State University Stanislaus. The campus has breathtaking scenery with waterfalls, bridges and sprawling greens. It is the perfect place to picnic or catch a performance by the university’s outstanding theater department. The Art Gallery is open 12 - 4 pm Monday thru Thursday and is free.
Great Impressions Art and Antiques Gallery
One of Turlock’s hidden treasures in the Great Impressions Art and Antiques Gallery. They are home to over 2,000 original works of art with everything from California “cowboy art” to big name French Impressionists.
Hilmar Cheese Company
Just a few miles out of town is the world famous Hilmar Cheese Company, where you can see the cheese making process first hand! They offer tours, cheese tasting and fantastic lunches for the whole family to enjoy.

View the porcelain doll making process at the fabulous Lawton Doll Company in Turlock. The whole family can enjoy seeing the dolls come to life as the artists put on the finishing touches.
Beekman & Beekman
Visit Beekman & Beekman five generation old farm/apiary and future guest house on Geer Road in Hughson, California, just outside of Turlock, to taste the unique flavors of pure varietal honeys and the wine that premium honey can create. Historic Sierra Railroad Dinner Train
A variety of scenic and entertaining train rides every week of the year between Oakdale and Sonora. The most popular is the sunset dinner train every Saturday. Oakdale is only a short 20 minute drive from Turlock. 209-848-2100 or
Castle Air Museum
Located at the former Castle Air Force Base about 15 miles south of Turlock, dozens of military airplanes are on outdoor display ranging from World War II bombers to an SR-71 Blackbird. A restaurant, gift shop and indoor museum are also included. Korean War Memorial
Located at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery about 30 miles from Turlock near the intersection of I-5 and Hwy 33, it was built in 1998 and includes a circle of 16 smooth granite slabs etched with the names of the 2,496 Californians killed or missing in action in the Korean War.
